Chris qualified from Anstey PE College/Birmingham University with an Honours Degree in PE and Maths and began her teaching career at Langley High in 1984. Following a short period of teaching PE at Langley she moved to Dartmouth High and then finally in 1987 to Shireland High School where she had progressed to teaching Maths and IT and then became IT Co-ordinator, before gaining a two year secondment to EMU in 1991 with responsibility for the implementation of Attendance and the introduction of OMRs. This however was quickly superseded by a permanent role with the team of overseeing the SIMS Core Modules and the task of advising schools on technical matters.
Chris is now a member of the SMIS senior management team with specific responsibility for Secondary Schools and the SMIS Technical Team.

Jackie L'Herroux

Advisory Officer
During her early career Jackie worked as a software programmer, but following a career break, became a secretary at Britannia High School. This was quickly followed by the role of Office Manager at Christ Church CE Primary School, a post she held for a number of years. She joined EMU in 2001 on a temporary basis but gained a permanent position in the same year. Followed by a move to SMIS as an Advisory Officer after it formed in December 2002.

Julie Duffell

Advisory Officer
During her early career Julie worked for Sandwell MBC, following a career break she worked for several years as a training consultant with Boots the Chemists, before moving to Menzies High School in 1994 as a School Secretary. She joined EMU in 2002, followed by a move to SMIS as an Advisory Officer after it formed in December 2002.
Julie specialises in the Primary Management Information Systems, Attendance and Census.

Mark Golder

Senior Technical Advisor
Mark qualified as a technician in 1985 and joined the EMU Technical Team in September 1985. He then became Senior Technician for EMU and managed the Technical team for a number of years. Mark joined SMIS in 2004 and now holds the position of Senior Technical Advisor. He has responsibility for the planning, technical procurement, project management and implementation of new technical infrastructures.
Mark specialises in hardware and software, including workstations, servers and virtualisation platforms

Business Manager
Janet’s early career began working as a Payroll Manager at Allied Carpets. Following this role she changed career path and during 1995 moved to Joblink as Finance Officer. She then became Finance Manager at EMU before becoming an integral part of the SMIS team in 2005.

Matt Griffin

Technical Advisor
After graduating in Software Engineering at Birmingham University, Matt was appointed on a one year contract as IT Technician for Highfields Primary. While at Highfields Matt worked with SMIS supporting the Palms into Education Project. Due to the success of the PiE project; Matt was appointed as Technical Advisor at SMIS in February 2007. Matt is responsible for managing the sandwellschools.org.uk Learning Gateway project, SMIS Website and also develops the SMIS internal business systems.
Matt specialises in Business Systems, Database Management, Web Solutions and Software Analysis.

Assistant Business Manager
Chris started his career in 2001 with Solihull Council as an Admin Assistant. He then went on to become a Project Support Officer within the Education and Children Services Directorate at Solihull until his contract expired in August 2006. He was appointed as SMIS Receptionist in the same month and has since progressed to Assistant Business Manager with additional responsibilities for first line support.

Advisory Officer
Sharon started work on the Management Training Scheme at Beatties in Wolverhampton, going on to become Assistant Department Manager in various departments. After a career break she became an Administrative Assistant at Lanesfield Primary School in Wolverhampton before becoming Data Manager for Alexandra High School in Sandwell in 2005. Sharon joined SMIS as an Advisory Officer in 2010. Sharon specialises in Secondary Modules.

Dan Belcher

Administration Officer
Dan began his career as a Modern Apprentice in 2000, and moved on to become an Admin Assistant within Sandwell’s Children and Young People’s Services in 2003, as part of Strategic e-Learning Services. Dan became the Learning Platform Officer in 2007 supporting the Local Authority’s use of the Learning Platform and OPENHIVE.
Dan joined SMIS in August 2011.

Tony Williams

Curriculum Consultant
After graduating with an Honours Degree in Mathematics Tony then qualified as a teacher at Leeds University. He also has an M.A. in Business and Education from Cambridge University. During 17 years as a teacher he has been a Deputy Head, Head of Maths, Head of House and taught a variety of subjects as well as creating timetables, managing examinations, options and SIMS. He worked in the Cambridgeshire SIMS Support Team before joining SIMS, who became Capita, for 12 years in a number of roles relating to demonstrating, training and consultancy for SIMS applications. For the last 8 years he has been self employed and has provided training and consultancy services to several LAs and a large number of schools.
Tony is currently providing Supply cover for SMIS and specialises in Assessment and Reporting.

Paul Butler

FMS Consultant
Paul is a qualified Primary school teacher who began his teaching career at Charlemont Junior School in 1975 which became Charlemont Primary after the merger with the Infants School. His career then took him to Harvills Hawthorn Junior in 1987 quickly followed by a Secondment with EMU as an Advisory Teacher for IT in Primary Schools in 1988. He then gained a permanent position with EMU in 1990 joining Bob Jackman to help form the SIMS Support section. He became Strategic Manager of SMIS in December 2002 and retired from this position in July 2011
